If you could solve one of the biggest problems facing America and the world today, create millions of new jobs, save a ton of money, enhance national security and the economy, significantly improve your health, and protect the planet all at once, would you do it?
Right now, today, as you read this, the world is standing at a crucial crossroads, the likes of which we have never before encountered. The path we have been on leads to massive, bleak, potentially disastrous consequences, but if we act promptly, we can choose another course. By implementing swift, decisive, constructive measures to eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels, we can create a sustainable future for everyone. The benefits of this choice would encompass everything from our health to our wealth, our safety and the earth. The decision is an easy one, but we are running out of time. Fewer than 1 in 100 people are aware of the urgency of this situation. The next 2 to 3 decades will bear the results, either sublime or devastating, of whatever choice we make today. We all NEED TO KNOW what we are facing.
If you answer yes to any of the following questions, then you must agree that we do, indeed, need renewable, sustainable, alternative energy solutions now.
By the time you finish surfing this site, you will have to agree that Alternative Energy is an urgent necessity, which must be harnessed immediately.
It's not just for gasoline anymore... actually, it never was, but that's another story altogether.
We use it for everything. From the cars that we drive to the food that we eat to the clothes on our backs to the paint on our walls and the carpet on our floors. It's used in our pharmaceuticals, our plastics, our micro-chips, our ink. Everything! If it isn't an 'ingredient' in something (which it usually is), then it's used in the production of that thing to run the equipment, and/or power the factory that creates it (along with other non-renewable fossil fuels). The computer that you are reading this website on, and the internet that is powering this page are oil products. If you are alive today, your generation has never experienced life without oil. (As opposed to anyone who is not alive today, but is still reading this? Okay, we admit, that sentence could have been stronger.)
The point is, we are ADDICTED TO OIL, and we need an alternative energy intervention now.
If you think of us as fossil fuel addicts (which we are), it is easy to imagine what The Earth might say to us at our intervention.
This, of course, assumes that The Earth can speak English, which we all know it can't, but let's just play along, shall we?
Earth: (reading it's prepared letter) Dear World Citizens, your addiction has affected me negatively in the following ways:
When you burn your fossil fuels you release greenhouse gases into my atmosphere, my land, and my water. I am getting much warmer than I am supposed to be, and I have no way to cool down. My ice caps are melting, my sea levels are rising, and my oceans are becoming more acidic. I don't think you realize how catastrophic this can be. My eco-system requires a delicate balance to perform in a way that makes your life sustainable. When you release your poisons into my atmosphere, you upset that balance. Rivers are changing their flow, land is being swallowed by the ocean, species are becoming extinct, and natural disasters are on the brink of becoming unlike anything you have ever had to experience.
What you don't seem to realize is that I will survive all of this, but if you're not careful, you will not. You must implement alternative energy solutions now. You are killing yourselves and causing great harm to me. The same toxic pollutants that you are dumping into my ground and my water and my air are going straight into your bodies. You are afflicted by asthma and nervous disorders and cancer, and nothing seems to stop you.
Please, take this gift that is being offered to you today, this sustainable life here with me, and get the help that you need. Find an alternative energy solution before it's too late.
That's right, folks. We are about to hit the proverbial bottom of the barrel in a very palpable way.
Let's not forget:
Fossil Fuels are NOT RENEWABLE resources. Not in this millenium, anyway.
Peak Oil is a very real, and very serious situation. While it does have it's good points (which mainly center around our global warming and pollution problems) it also has the capacity to bring life as we know it to a crashing halt. Remember, we're addicted to the stuff. We use it for everything. What consequences do you suppose we will face once we run out? War? Check. Economic ruin? Check. Starvation? Check. I could go on.
If we don't have a functioning, viable alternative energy source when we run out of oil, the world will be completely incapable of sustaining the 6.4 billion people who live on this planet. It simply can not be done.
So, how long do we have to create this massive infrastructure of renewable, eco-friendly, alternative energy sources? How long do we have to completely revamp the way the entire world functions? According to the top scientists and experts in the peak oil field, anywhere between now and 30 years from now, all H-E-Double hockey sticks will start to break loose.
Now, we put a man on the moon. We created the internet. We are brilliant, resourceful people. We have the technology. We're working on more. What we do not have is the time and the money to put it into place before the clock runs out. Why? Because people don't know how dire the situation is. We're addicts! We're living in a fog (well, more like a 'smog' really, thanks to us). If people don't know, then people can't make a difference.
It is going to take major pressure to get the governments of the world to put into motion the amount of work that must immediately go in to an alternative energy infrastructure if we are going to survive. It is going to take a total overhaul of our mindset as well.
Make no mistake... This crisis is happening. It is happening now, and it is happening quickly. We have to act immediately. We have no time to spare. We are already behind. We need an alternative energy solution today.

"Every person has free choice. Free to obey or disobey the Natural Laws. Your choice determines the consequence. Nobody ever did, or ever will, escape the consequences of his choices."

"Few challenges facing America and the world are more urgent than combating climate change. The science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear. Sea levels are rising. Coastlines are shrinking. We've seen record drought, spreading famine, and storms that are growing stronger with each passing hurricane season. Climate change and our dependence on foreign oil, if left unaddressed, will continue to weaken our economy and threaten our national security."
